I am Stephen Little, Founder and Sole Craftsman of ‘Stephen Little Handcrafted Drums’.

As a musician from a young age, I have grown to respect and admire the sound quality and craftsmanship found in musical instruments. Over the past decade, I have taken serious interest in the fields of design, fabrication and construction. As a child I loved to build things, and eventually owened and operated a small fabrication company specializing in the consturction of small off-road vehicles, ultimatetly leading to a career choice in science & technology.

I am a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Program at Memorial University of Newfoundland & Labrador. Having endured many academic hours in the classroom, and on the computer, as well as my hours of leisure behind a welding mask and metal lathe, I have bridged the gap between the mathematical design world and handcrafted goods.

My passion for drumming, and background in engineering, has led me to a position where I can give back to the drumming community. Each drum that I craft encompasses a collage of knowledge that I have gained both through my education, research and self taught methods of construction. My eye for quality, and strive to make each drum individual, provides my client with not only an instrument, but a work of art.

My Company is located at the most easterly point of North America. St. John’s, Newfoundland is my hometown and current shop location. Canada is a country boasting with some of the most plentiful and accesible timber resources in the world, which makes it a natural hosting ground for goods made from the land. Although, in this industry it is common to seek materials from the tropics, this does not limit the possibility to utilize some of  the naturally occurring drum shell ingredients, such as Canadian Maple.
